Public holidays are always better when they involve 6 course lunches. Last year on Reconciliation day, we visited Roots Restaurant at Forum Homini for lunch. I have visited this gorgeous restaurant out in the Cradle of Humankind before for breakfast, and my second visit left me equally impressed.
I could talk about the breath-taking natural surroundings, but let’s rather focus on the food. Our meal consisted of a carefully orchestrated menu of 6 beautifully presented courses as well as an additional amuse bouche, complete with a huge basket of bread as well as some sweet treats to end off the meal. The food was freshly prepared and the various dietary restrictions our table had were taken into consideration when preparing each dish.
The service was pretty good, the waiter didn’t ask us about more drinks very often, which was a bit annoying, but otherwise it was fine.
