Recently I attended a lunch as a guest of Qantas Airways. It wasn’t in one of their planes, but it was their plane food, served in a swanky location in Sandton, by flight attendants off airplane trolleys. (That’s halfway there)
Side Note: my golden rule, irrespective of carrier, is NEVER eat the egg dish in the morning, it has served me well, when compared to my travelling companions.
- They have gotten rid of the trays that the whole meal gets served on, and replaced it with an underplate of sorts, with the other elements (like the dessert) being served separately.
- You get a welcome drink as soon as the seat belt signs are turned off. We tried the Blueberry and Pomegranate one, and it was quite refreshing
- They have reduced the time it takes serve you your meal and to clear it away once you are done eating, so you don’t have to watch the rest of your movie with dirty dishes in front of you.
- If you are flying from Australia, you have the option to pre choose the meal you want before you fly, by simply logging on to their website.
Disclaimer: I was invited as a guest of Qantas to enjoy their new economy class food offering. I was not asked to write this post, and all views and thoughts expressed are my own.
